AUL 1B Brooklodge United 0 Glenthorn Celtic 2 Glenthorn Celtic scored early and late to record a deserved 2-0 away win over Brooklodge United at Knockraha last Saturday afternoon. Celtic enjoyed majority possession but found it quite difficult to penetrate a solid Brooklodge rearguard with keeper Frank Walsh in top form. The winners opened their account in the 4 th minute. Midfield player Alan Falvey sent a measured pass on to Thomas Kelleher, who found Paul Burke about 20 yards from the goal. Burke’s forceful shot flew beyond the reach of Brooklodge goalkeeper Walsh and into the back of the net. Falvey took control in the middle of the park from early on and, in the 10 th minute, set up goal-scorer Burke on the right with a neat pass, but Burke’s tempting ball was well cut out by keeper Walsh, who was destined to have a busy day. Blast from the Past. 2nd November 2003 Mighty Flynn nets Mallow hat trick in away win over Hibernian Mallow raiders too hot for Shanbally hosts FAI JUNIOR CUP Hibernian 1 Mallow Celtic 3 Mallow Celtic put their unbeaten run on the line at Shanbally on Sunday morning and home side Hibernian were unable to derail Mick Conroy’s charges as the visitors defeated their higher-ranked opponents 3-1 in the Statoil FAI Junior Cup.
