PEARSE FINISH TOP
by Danny Carroll

AUL 1
Innishvilla 1 Pearse Celtic 4

Pearse took an early lead in AUL 1 when a great cross from a corner by Kevin McCoy was headed in by centre back Darren Roche. This gave the AUL 1 leaders a great start and they continued to look for more goals. Jamie Nagle got just reward for his outstanding hard work and effort when he scored the second after a mix up in the Innishvilla defence.

Pearse like Tuesday night against Richmond were 2 up at the break, however this time Pearse added more goals in the second half. The third goal was an outstanding solo effort by the evergreen Kevin McCoy who on a Pearse counter attack dribbled from the half way line and finished past the Innishvialla keeper with some style.

Pearse wrapped things up soon after when the outstanding Gary O’Shea’s shot rebounded nicely for Kevin McCoy for his second goal of the game. Pearse had numerous chances afterwards but failed to take any of them. Innishvilla were awarded a penalty in injury time to make the final score 4-1 to Pearse.

This was a great result for Pease under a lot of pressure and a great team performance and will hopefully be good enough for the club to lift their first ever First division title and the first time playing in the Premier A division.
