Latest tables (AUL)
Review of Tonight’s games.
AUL 1: What a night of action as more drama unfolds. Let’s start at the start with the big ones.
Springfield A were held to a draw by Carrigtwohill when Derek Harrington’s goals in the second half was cancelled out by Springfield’s Paul Stanton’s equaliser shortly afterwards following a scoreless first half. No doubt, Carrig will be pretty pleased with a point away to one of the favourites.
In the other big game in this section, Fairview went down 1-2 at home to a Dillon’s Cross side who really can’t put a foot wrong these days. And as I said already in my previous notes - if only the Cross had a good start to their season, they would certainly be buzzing for league honours right now.
In the battle against relegation, Boscos gave themselves a life-line with a 4-1 home win over Postal while Shandon suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at the hands of Leeside. With six games to go for basement sides Postal, Shandon and Boscos and just one destined to be doomed for relegation in this section, the fight for survival is likely to intensify mover over the next few weeks.
AUL 1A: The two big guns came out on top in this group in their encounters tonight.
Douglas Hall’s convincing 4-0 victory away to UCC leapfrogs them over Glenvale into the second spot while leaders Kilreen had to scrap hard for their 3-2 win away to Donoughmore.
AUL 2B: We saw a big score-line in the north side local derby when Central played host to Cathedral Celtic in a 4-4 draw. One of the biggest results for me tonight though was Brooklodge’s 2-0 home victory over second place Corkbeg and as I said already in previous notes, if Brooklodge beat Watergrasshill next Sunday, they will certainly be putting themselves into the limelight as favourites to go for the title.
In the battle against relegation, Glanworth’s 1-2 defeat tonight at the hands of Castle Celtic did their survival hopes no good at all as they sit at the basement - two points behind Central with the same games played and seven to go.
So, that’s it for tonight. I’ll be back again on this space next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with all the latest covering results and Review of the action.
Many thanks to you all for your prompt response with results.
Cheers for now,
Barry.
