NEW FAI
COURSE FOR THOSE SEEKING A CAREER IN FOOTBALL
FAI AND CORK ETB LAUNCHING NEW FOOTBALL COACH /
LEADER DEVELOPMENT COURSE
The FAI in conjunction with the Cork
Education and Training Board have developed a new programme aimed at developing
community based football coaches and sports leaders. The course, which
will be based at Midleton FC’s home ground, Knockgriffin Park, provides
participants with the knowledge, qualifications and pathway to ultimately work
within football as a coach or administrator or to work elsewhere within
the sports and leisure industry.
The course is a balance of practical
and theory with learners completing a FETAC Level 5 Sports and Recreation
Studies programme, the ITEC Gym Instructor Qualification as well as a host of
football related and certified courses up to Youth Cert level.
Along with the qualifications each
learner will gain invaluable practical experience working alongside the
Football Association of Ireland’s Regional Development Officers on a regular
basis.
Interviews for places on the course
will be held on Thursday 25th September
at Midleton FC with the course starting Monday 6th October.
The course operates on a full time
basis, Monday – Friday from 9.30am – 4.00pm, and if you are in
receipt of social payments you will receive your payments throughout the
course.
Giving his support to the programme,
Cork City Manager, John Caulfield said, “I welcome the establishment of the
programme here in Cork as it will provide a great opportunity for those who
have an interest in becoming a coach or sports leader to gain hands on
experience alongside the excellent certified qualifications on offer”.
For any queries in relation to the
course or to book an interview please contact Niall O’Regan on 086-1527774, orniall.oregan@fai.ie
