Ballincollig got through to the Shield final. But only just, needing a 90th minute equaliser from Lennie Walker and all their shootout expertise to advance against Wilton Utd.

Wilton's Ray Claffey had mixed fortunes. He put them a ahead with a cracking 6th minute strike, then conceded an own goal, later took a Gerry Ring header off the line before seeing his shootout kick come back off a post. The deserved Ballincollig equaliser came in the 57th minute following a dangerous cross by Mick Savage.

Late on, Fergal Giltinan's strong shot was too hot for Ballincollig keeper Finbarr Hogan and it looked like Wilton would win until Walker's last gasp equaliser.
