Albert Rovers 2 Grangevale 1

A strong second half showing earned favourites Albert Rovers a 2-1 victory over Grangevale at The Cross. Alberts came closest in the scoreless first half when Noel Hayes hit a post in the 32nd minute and Martin Davies was twice unlucky.

Alberts hit the front in the 65th minute. Then Richie Lowry split the defence, Barry Twomey crossed and Davies blasted home.After Grange keeper Graham kept them in the game with a point blank save from Twomey, they equalised with nine minutes to go when John Filkey converted.

Parity was short-lived. Peter Creedon's cross was handled and a well hit spotter from Noel Hayes gave Alberts the cup.
