Tramore Athletic, a well organised crew, used their passing game to perfection as they delivered a 3-0 knockout blow to visitors Richmond in the quarter-final of the Errea Sports AUL Youth League Cup.
Homesters Tramore, with Errea Sports Man of the Match Thomas Morgan outstanding in midfield, dictated proceedings for most of the 90 minutes though the visitors did enjoy a spell on top in the opening ten minutes or so of the second half.
Tramore dominated from the off but chances went abegging. Sean O’Connor went close in the 2nd minute, Darren Moore in the 8th, Mark Maher in the 10th, and Paul Kerrigan in 14th.
And the trend continued in the 22nd minute when Sean O’Connor pushed the ball too far ahead of himself making it easy for Richmond’s goalkeeper John Hegarty to collect.

Almost immediately, there was a similar chance at the other end. Cian Blake was in but control let him down also as he pushed the ball too far ahead, allowing Tramore keeper Dave Dorney time enough to to pick it up.

Man of the Match.
Tramore got a deserved opener in the 30th minute. Sean O’Connor hit a free kick which came off a Richmond defender into the path of Mark Maher and, from 18 yards out, Maher made no mistake when he placed the ball to the left of keeper John Hegarty and into the back of the net.
Tramore finished the half strongly but were unable to add to their tally. After a multi-pass build-up, O’Connor’s close range stab was saved by keeper Hegarty.
Richmond started the second half brightly. Substitute Mark Kenny got goal side of his marker but shot weakly and his effort was easily saved.
Then Tramore defender Robert O’Sullivan neatly cut out a potent Jason Twomey cross intended for the waiting Brian Murphy.
The home team heeded the wake-up calls and went further ahead in the 57th minute. The attack reached a climax when the ball broke nicely for Peter Moreland and he drove it to the right of the Richmond goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
Daniel O’Donovan came close for Richmond in the 63rd minute but Tramore were now truly on top and got their third four minutes later.
It started when man of the match Thomas Morgan won a good ball in the air and O’Connor collected before sending Maher free and in turn Maher set up substitute Alan Dwyer who slammed the ball beyond the isolated Richmond goalkeeper Hegarty.
Hegarty made the save of the game in the 80th minute. Tramore’s Darren Moore was put clean through but his well struck effort was parried away brilliantly.
Thomas Morgan picked up the Errea Sports Man of the Match for his dominant display in the middle of the park. He won everything in the air and was also solid on the ground and his passing was also top notch.
